A Trip, An Exam and An Unexpected Bond

Hi There!

I'm Pratik. I'm someone who cherishes simple moments, meaningful connections, and exploring new experiences.

Usually, I tend to keep things to myself, but this time I experienced something so heartwarming that I felt like writing my first blog.

This blog is about a short but memorable experience and how it changed something in me.

How It All Started

Recently, I went to Delhi to appear for an exam. I stayed at my Bua’s house.

I honestly didn’t expect this trip to become so special but it did, all thanks to a little four-legged member of their family- Google.

Meeting My New Furry Friend

When I first entered my Bua's home, Google spent about 10 minutes just sniffing me, trying to figure out who I was.

I felt really awkward, because before this, I had never been so close to any animal.

At first, I was unsure how I’d feel living with a dog. I thought she would be like other pets- jumping around, barking nonstop, or suddenly leaping onto me.

That’s what I had seen with other people’s pets, and since I never had such an experience myself, I wasn’t sure if I would be comfortable.

But everything changed once I actually spent time with her. She’s incredibly calm, a total good girl.

From the moment I arrived, she welcomed me like I was already part of her world.

One of the most surprising things I found out about Google was that she preferred vegetarian food over non-veg!

Tomatoes and mangoes were her absolute favorites. If you're eating and your plate has tomatoes or mangoes, she simply won’t let you eat in peace.

Every time I came back from outside, she’d rush to the door to greet me.

At night, she would sleep beside me on the bed, slowly crawl into my blanket, and I’d end up cuddling her until we both fell asleep.

The day I was supposed to leave, it felt like she somehow sensed it. She didn’t leave my side for even a minute. Wherever I went, she followed. She was really sad that day.

My Bua, Didi, and Bhai brought her along to the station to drop me off. Even in the car, she stayed on my lap the whole time and refused to go to anyone else.

Pet therapy is real, and I didn’t even know I needed it.

That was a first time I truly understood why people call pets family.

A Little Time to Explore

Delhi was extremely hot. Honestly, I didn’t feel like stepping out of the house.

But then I thought,  who knows when I’ll get to visit Delhi again? So, I decided to explore.

This was my first time in Delhi. On the first day, I had plans to go out with one of my classmates, but he ditched me after a short while.

Then I joined my class’s girl gang- Akanksha, Shrinkhala and Khushi, and explored the city with them instead and honestly, I had a blast!

We roamed around, ate lots of food, clicked tons of pictures, even went to karaoke where we danced and sang our hearts out. I had so much fun that my throat got sore the next day.

A big thanks to them, because if not for them, I would’ve been wandering around alone that day.

And of course how can I forget the “Shrinkhala in the metro” incident?

While we were traveling by metro and had reached our station, we got off the train but Shrinkhala stayed inside. Before she could step out, the metro doors closed, and she was stuck inside as the train moved ahead. we were all in shock for a second and then burst out laughing.

Our friend Khushi ran to rescue her and the whole moment turned into a comedy scene. Even the people around us in the metro station couldn’t stop laughing.

This kind of stuff always happens to Shrinkhala, It’s like chaos just follows her around, but in the most hilarious way possible.

Honestly, if you’re ever bored, just sit with Shrinkhala. That’s all. She is pure entertainment. You can never get bored around her.

The next day, I explored the remaining parts of Delhi with Akanksha. We ended up spending the whole day together, and surprisingly, we vibed really well even in such a short span of time.

We discovered that we share a lot of similar hobbies and interests, which made everything even more fun and comfortable.

A funny incident happened while we were at Humayun’s Tomb, our phones started overheating due to the extreme heat and the cameras just stopped working properly. It was so frustrating because the place was so photogenic and we had to skip clicking some beautiful shots we were really excited for. Still, somehow, we managed to take a few photos of each other with a lot of effort and timing!

By evening, it had gotten quite late while we were still roaming around. We went to a cafĂ© for dinner, but the service was terribly slow. People who came after us got their food and left, and our order hadn’t even arrived yet.

Akanksha had a train to catch that night, so she was getting late. She had to get back to her hotel to pack and freshen up before heading to the station. After dinner, I accompanied her to the metro station, a hectic but very memorable end to that day.

Special shoutout to Akshardham Temple, and a big thanks to my Didi and Bhai, who took time out of their hectic office schedules just to take me around.

Thank you so much!

The Sarojini Saga

I always wanted to visit Sarojini Nagar — heard so much about how great the clothes are there.

But honestly, it was pretty disappointing. It’s basically a market only for girls.

Sometimes I wonder why there aren’t as many fashion options for guys. Then I look at the boys around me and honestly, they’re so boring. Zero fashion sense.

No one wants to try something different. And the ones who do? They just get mocked.

Like seriously, it’s 2025. Grow up, guys. Upgrade your style!

Anyway, that’s a rant for another day.

Coming back to the trip- yes, it was amazing. Even with the heat, I enjoyed every bit of it.

What I Took Back With Me

A trip that was supposed to be just about taking an exam turned into something so much more.

It gave me a bond with a sweet, loving pet and helped me connect with a side of myself I didn’t even know existed.

I returned home with a heart full of memories and a small hope to someday bring home a pet of my own.

Maybe some connections aren't planned, They're just meant to happen.

Have you ever bonded with someone or some pet unexpectedly?
